Day 1: Civil Right Trip Blog

Today during the trip I learned so much information about the Woolworth museum. During the first exhibit, we saw an excerpt from The Declaration of Independence, which reads, "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." This reminds me of my English class, because we focused on this quote and had very open discussions, that later helped me understand other things, such as this exhibit. Another thing that stood out to me was the lunch counter, where all four men sat and protested, knowing they were putting their life at risk. The actual lunch counter was still there after all this time and it truly amazed me. I enjoyed all the exhibits they showed to us, and I took a lot from this experience.
