Today we went to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. There was a display comparing the white classroom to a black classroom. This display made me realize the similarities it has to today. Today, a majority of people color are less fortunate and go to schools that have less resources. But a majority of white people are more fortunate and go to schools with a surplus amount of resources. A quote that was my favorite was, "We will accept the violence and the hate, absorbing it without returning it". This quote was what Martin Luther King believed in. He didn't want to stoop down to the level of brutality that whites did to blacks. He made it his life mission to make everyone equal in a peaceful manner.
