I found it interesting that the struggle that I'm currently questioning within my life was also a question within the 2 big civil events we learned about. We learned about the Greensboro Four. They were 4 male students at North Carolina's A&T who wanted their manhood and black rights that were taken away within segregation. We also learned about the Freedom Riders. They were a group of people of different races who traveled down south using public transportation. They both knew that a change is needed and the outcome was no more segregation, but they had no clue how they were gonna make that happen .
Overall, today At 5:45am this morning when I boarded the bus I had no idea that I'd go through the emotional drain that I did today. I finished this day feeling blessed that a lot of the leaders in this Civil Rights movement paved the way for me to sit on this bus with people of different backgrounds and races and now is the time for me to do the same for the next generation, but I need their wisdom. In May 1961 the freedom riders goal was the challenge the thought of segregation and hoping that with Kennedy becoming president that he and the law support them, but after seeing the wall of shame at the International Civil Rights Museum I realized that the law hasn't supported us as human beings and still don't. They have just come to the realization that we are human and are similar to white people in that aspect. So with my seat at the table of America I hope that with the information that I learn after this first day of the trip will allow me to make this change .
